If you took part in this year’s RSPB Big Garden Bird Watch we’d love to hear what species you saw over the weekend (Friday 29th – Sunday 31st January).
Several of us took part in the event on the allotments this year, managing to count – and capture some good footage- of some of our more common species:
A greedy starling and a pair of sparrows on the feeder behind.
A plotholder on Craven Vale Allotment since 2010. I'm also one of Site Reps, as well as a member of the CVWHAS committee. I feel very lucky having a plot on such an amazing site - with views across to the South Downs and the sea, it feels like a piece of the countryside within the city.

One thought on “What did you see during the #BigGardenBirdWatch?”
I went to do my watch today hoping for fine weather and a good amount of birds to spot. I replenished the bird feeders, the sunflower hearts have been a big hit, that feeder was all but empty. An hour, sat at a distance, wrapped up against the cold wind and plenty of hot drinks, I waited.
Not one single bird landed anywhere on my plot.
They had it sussed. Sunday afternoons like this are for chilling in the nest not for fast food or picnics.
